SAFARI & GAME VIEWING IN THE WESTERN CAPE, SOUTH AFRICA
Safari trips and game viewing tours in South Africa are a major tourism attraction and will always be regarded as being one of the best locations in the world to see many African animal species roaming free across the Veld.
The world famous Kruger Park originally started in 1926, is the size of Wales and has set the standards for all others to follow.
Cape Town, Hermanus and the Western Cape are major tourism destinations of South Africa and as such, many entrepreneurs and wildlife enthusiasts realised that to establish Safari parks within easy reach of Cape Town would be a great idea and a large tourism attraction.
Within the last 10 years there has now been established over 10 safari parks. Some are great, some are good and some are like glorified zoos (sadly).
So let’s concentrate on the great ones.
When you venture on a Safari, you wish to not just see animals, but also fabulous countryside and flora, as well as to be escorted by very knowledgeable and jovial game wardens. You also wish that your safari be as close to a Masi Mara or Serengeti scene as possible. That’s why remote, scenic locations are ideal for situating Safari parks in the Western Cape. 2 out of the 10 parks, stand out head and shoulders above the rest, as they provide these requirements.
Based in the Little Karoo, they are perfectly positioned to provide outstanding scenery in remote locations, so that your photos are not tainted by trucks zipping by on near-by motorways or by telegraph poles or buildings being in your view finder either.
As for the animals that one will view, the variety of species is also of high importance. Rhino, Lion, Cheetah, Giraffe, Buffalo, Zebra, Wildebeest, Oryx (Gemsbok) and Springbok would probably be on most peoples wish lists, but with each park having over 25 species of African animals, each park is a wildlife spotters paradise and only a 3 hour scenic road trip from Cape Town or Hermanus.
Luxurious air-conditioned accommodation is also available, with fabulous cuisine, inviting swimming pools, with quad biking, horse riding and mountain biking facilities.
