NATURE LOVERS - SCHEDULED TOUR.
Nature Lovers
could consist of hikers, walkers, UNI students wishing to do their
field studies, animal & botany lovers and African eco-system
fans.
With
South Africa’s vast natural diversity and the Cape region
being one of the worlds Floral Kingdoms, there really are many options
– the list below highlights these major activities.
1) Botany.
The
Cape Floral Kingdom has recently achieved the status of UN World
Heritage Site, with a staggering 9000 unique species of Flora. Tours
of the region will take in the many National Botanical Gardens,
flower farms, forestry and National Parks which are found on many
differing terrains – from beach level to high lofty mountain
peaks and ranges. The most famous plants include – Protea,
Iris, Yellow Wood trees, many cacti, Erica and Restio.
2)
Hikers & Walkers.
The
Western Cape has stunning mountain ranges, gorges, valleys, and
rivers that so impress every tourist that it is very hard for them
not to take 100’s of photos around every corner. The most
famous of them all is the mind-blowing, 1083m high, Table Mountain
that can be climbed & hiked in 5 or 6 hours.
Other impressive
ranges include – Riviersonderend, Klein Riviers, Hex River,
Langeberg and Hottentot Holland.
Remote
lodges, chalets and cabins provide comfortable over night accommodation.
3) Safaris & African Animals.
Day
and evening game drives in 4x4 Land Rovers at many wildlife Safari
parks and reserves are by far the easiest way to spot the many varied
species of animals. Where else could you see elephants, crocodiles,
giraffes, antelopes, birds, African big cats, monkeys and the big
5 in their natural surroundings.
The
oceans are also teaming with creatures-from-the-deep; whales, dolphins,
sharks, seals & penguins, and with over 1000 species of birds,
this region is a twitchers paradise.
All
the major wildlife documentary makers - BBC, Animal Planet, Discovery
and National Geographic regularly spend weeks filming this region.
