Tourism – everyone loves a holiday
 
Holidays and travelling to new destinations around the world are always such a delight that we humans just love the adrenaline excitement of packing our bags and heading off to explore new places and absorbing new adventures. Maybe it's our pioneering spirit or the thrill of the unknown, whichever it is, we all adore zipping around the planet to experience fabulous holidays.
 
This is even more desired by us all today, so that we can escape the madness of the fast and crazy world that we live in – by escaping the stresses and strains of the massively hectic concrete jungles that we call cities today – we all want a holiday to unwind and smile about how amazing the world truly is..….the 2018 World Cup football has also shown how we enjoy the thrill of a celebration of escapism.
 
Thankfully Cape Town and Hermanus are holiday meccas that offer such a huge amount of unique diversity and thrilling activities and attractions that allow the world to really go on holiday to maximum enjoyment.
 
Quite obviously Day Zero was a rather bad “plan” that catapulted Cape Town into the worlds press for all the wrong reasons – so we are all extremely happy that the winter rains have literally thrown water onto that madness – proving that there is always a positive story from any event.
 
The demand for holidays in Cape Town and Hermanus is constantly on the increase and as such Thomas Cook Airlines have announced 3 new flights per week (during Dec to March) from London Gatwick into Cape Town – while Lufthansa have increased their 3 flights per week up to 7 flights per week.
 
Official figures for the Overstrand region report that Tourism generates locally a revenue of over R17 billion per year, employs over 210,000 people and is a very important economy that is predicted to growing by at least 5.3% over the next year according to a forecast by PwC – for example, tourist requests to explore the local Hemel–en–Aarde wine route has increased year–on–year by a whopping 43% – with Wine and Food now being a huge international tourism product, and our wine region has only “suddenly” been discovered. We even have 5 breweries producing many delicious craft beers and ales and afew gin distilleries too.
 
Our uniqueness of 100’s of attractions are major draw–cards – from Penguins to Whales, from Sharks to World Heritage floral diversity, from high–adrenaline adventures to chilled–out relaxation, from Hiking thro’ outstanding natural scenery to a multitude of Festivals and craft markets…..there really is a massive array of excellence to offer tourists who visit our incredible region.
 
Ideally all persons working in the local Tourism industry should be trying to persuade their clients to stay in the Overstrand region for at least 2 to 5 days, so as to fully absorb our wonderful attractions and adventures.
